That's the estimate of how much Americans will spend on Halloween this year from the National Retail Federation's Halloween Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey, conducted by BIGresearch. This year, the average person plans to spend $66.54 on the holiday, up from $64.82 a year ago. This year, consumers will spend an average of $24.17 on Halloween costumes (including costumes for adults, children, and pets). People will also be buying candy ($20.39 on average), decorations ($18.25) and greeting cards ($3.73).
GROSS IS GOOD
Make learning pure fun at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center's new exhibit – “Animal Grossology” – where you'll learn abut cow digestion, slimy snails, tapeworms and more. In addition, a different icky subject comes to life at workshops on selected weekends in October and November, and birthday parties can be organized around the exhibit. Check the Web site – rhfleet.org – for dates. Pre-registration is required. Cost of the workshops is $12 per child; birthday parties are $20.95 a person.
