Safer's '60 Minutes' art

Morley Safer has created a work of art celebrating the 40th anniversary of “60 Minutes.”

It will be unveiled at a party Monday. It's the face of a clock (like the famous CBS newsmagazine's stopwatch) etched in marble with “60” at the top and “40” where the “8” would be.

“I wanted it to be something that was kind of ancient but ageless,” said the veteran correspondent.

THEATERS TO HONOR NEWMAN

New York's Broadway theaters will dim their lights today at curtain time for Paul Newman, who died last week at age 83.

Newman appeared in five Broadway productions, including “Picnic,” “The Desperate Hours” and “Sweet Bird of Youth.”

The Broadway League, a trade association, says lights will be dimmed for one minute at 8 p.m. EDT.

PAPARAZZI CALLED IN TIP

A photographer who called 911 to report Heather Locklear allegedly driving erratically in Los Angeles runs a paparazzi agency and profited from images she took of the actress's arrest, the woman's attorney said Wednesday.

But Nicholas Tepper, who represents photographer Jill Ishkanian, said Wednesday that her call to authorities was motivated by “civic duty.”

He also defended Ishkanian's right to then take photos of the arrest. “The fact she witnessed Ms. Locklear's erratic driving and reported it to the police did not mean she was disqualified from reporting the story, which she in fact did,” Tepper said.

He said Ishkanian then sold the photos to celebrity gossip site TMZ for $27,000 – but did it through a third party, KM Press Group, because her standing in the industry has been damaged by a lawsuit against her former employer, US Weekly.
