LOS ANGELES – A former Los Angeles city commissioner has been convicted of grand theft, accepting bribes and several other felonies.
Leland Wong was found guilty Thursday on 14 public corruption counts. Prosecutors alleged that Wong bought sexual massages and provided other perks for mayoral aides during the administration of Mayor James Hahn.
The jury returned the verdict after its first full day of deliberations. The 51-year-old was also convicted of filing a false tax return, conflict of interest and perjury.
Wong, who held commissioner posts in three mayoral administrations, is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 25.
