Antioch man gets life for cop slaying

ASSOCIATED PRESS

3:44 p.m. July 24, 2008

RICHMOND – A 21-year-old Antioch man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2005 slaying of a Pittsburg police officer.

Andrew Moffett did not fire the gun that killed 35-year-old officer Larry Lasater, but was an accomplice in the robbery-murder. Moffett's co-defendant, Alexander Hamilton, has been sentenced to death for firing the fatal shots.

Last year, a Contra Costa County jury found Hamilton and Moffett guilty of murder, robbery and special circumstances.
