RANCHO CUCAMONGA – A crane operator has pleaded no contest to felony involuntary manslaughter for the deaths of three people while moving a 75-foot power pole.
Superior Court Judge Raymond Van Stockum on Wednesday placed 33-year-old Joseph DiMaano on three years' probation and ordered 500 hours community service.
DiMaano was operating a crane when a car struck the pole dangling four-feet over a roadway on Dec. 6, 2006.
Eighty-year-old Joel Everett Ridley was killed instantly and his 80-year-old bride Betty Deyo-Ridley died later. Also killed was 29-year-old construction worker David Jenkins.
