LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles will pay $1.75 million to a man who spent nearly 14 years in prison for murder before DNA evidence helped free him.
The City Council voted Wednesday to settle a civil rights lawsuit filed by Eric Robinson, who was convicted of a 1993 gang killing in South Los Angeles. Charges against Robinson were dismissed in a rehearing last year.
A co-defendant in the case got $1 million from the City Council after he was freed two years ago.
Robinson claimed police framed him for the killing.
