ASSOCIATED PRESS

6:03 a.m. July 24, 2008

BERKELEY – An 18-year-old Berkeley man wanted in the shooting of four people over the weekend is in custody after turning himself in.

Berkeley police say Gabriel Alejo surrendered to authorities Wednesday after police had conducted a search of his home.

Alejo was wanted in connection with a shooting early Sunday morning in front of an apartment complex in south Berkeley.

One man and three women were wounded in the shooting. None suffered life-threatening injuries.

Alejo is being held on four counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

He is due to appear in court Friday.
