LOS ANGELES – A man is dead after being shot by Los Angeles sheriff's deputies in the Lennox area.

Sheriff's officials say the shooting occurred shortly before midnight Wednesday, and the “suspect” was pronounced dead at the scene. No deputies were hurt.

Officials would not yet say what prompted the shooting.

Lennox is an unincorporated area, about 10 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles.
