PICO RIVERA – An autopsy was pending Wednesday for a man found dead in the driver's seat of a parked car in an unincorporated area of Pico Rivera, authorities said.
The man, in his 70s, was discovered in the locked vehicle Tuesday night, said Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
Winter said it was not known how long the man had been sitting in the vehicle or how he died.
The man's identity was not revealed pending notification of his next of kin, Winter said.
Employees at a truck repair shop near where the man was found told NBC-TV the car had been parked there all day, and at some point someone placed a parking ticket on the vehicle's door.
The Los Angeles County sheriff's station in Pico Rivera referred calls to the sheriff's homicide department. A message left for homicide detectives was not immediately returned.
