RENO, Nev. – A Reno auto broker has pleaded guilty to five counts of embezzlement and faces up to 25 years in prison when sentenced this fall.
The Washoe County district attorney's office says Stanley Zane Sims admitted bilking five customers during a four-month period in 2006.
Investigators say Sims arranged auto sales between prospective buyers and out-of-state new car dealers.
Buyers received their cars, but Sims pocketed the money instead of paying the dealers, and owners never received vehicle titles.
Sentencing before District Judge Jerry Polaha is set for Sept. 23.
