Letters to the Editor

Letters to the editor

Big Three gauge nears empty

Big Three gauge nears empty Regarding “Bailout fatigue stalls aid for Big 3” (A1, Nov. 18):

Before any bailout of the auto industry, it might be very insightful to conduct a survey of the employee parking lots to learn the percentage of foreign-label automobiles.

Letters to the editor: Taking issue with mayor on cuts Regarding “Q&A with Mayor Jerry Sanders” (Dialog, Nov. 16):

Letters to the editor: Who, what will help California's economy? Regarding “Governor seeks to increase, extend reach of sales tax” News, Nov. 7):

Letters to the editor: At SDSU, fee increase will go to athletics The problems with the negotiations between San Diego State University and Qualcomm Stadium over the lease renewal stem from one simple fact: SDSU cannot afford the rent because the revenues generated by the Aztecs are insufficient to meet their obligations.

Local Letters: South Edition: The post-election feelings Since the coalition of churches (Evangelical Christians, Mormons, Catholics) that organized to defeat Proposition 8 were so successful in raising $75 million, since they feel empowered by their success in affecting laws that promote their agenda, it is time they fully participated in the democratic process by giving up their tax-exempt status.

Letters to the editor: Both sides of the gay marriage issue have missed the point. The state should not be regulating or defining marriage. Both sides should work together to remove regulation of marriage from civil matters and return it to religion, where it belongs.

Letters to the editor: Bail out automakers? Not without conditions Imagine my surprise when I saw an ad for the 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid, which gets an average of a whopping 20 mpg. General Motors calls it “Intelligent Indulgence.” This is surprising. Two days earlier, I had read about GM's pleas to the federal government for bailout money.

Letters to the editor: New council should redo appointment to port panel Monday's appointment of San Diego City Council President Scott Peters to the Port Commission by the council was a travesty, an obvious violation of the Brown Act by Peters and his council supporters.

Letters to the editor: Since gays already have equality under the law, it's beginning to look as though their real agenda is to force the rest of us to accord them the same societal recognition as male-female unions. This would not be in harmony with thousands of years of human history.

Letters to the editor: Message to City Council: Water shortage isn't new It belies comprehension that the City Council is so short-sighted as to talk about water rationing and levying fees, fines and higher water rates to encourage less usage (right!) on our already cash-strapped citizens with no discussion of future planning for remediation.

Letters to the editor: Rosarito mayor's bid to infuse confidence Regarding “Improving public safety in Rosarito” (Opinion, Nov. 7):

Letters to the editor: Regarding “Governor seeks to increase, extend reach of sales tax” (A1, Nov. 7):

Letters to the editor: Campaign '08: Looking back, and ahead Regarding “Tough Chicago lawmaker is chosen chief of staff” (News, Nov. 7):

Letters to the editor: Not the way to rebuild a party Regarding “Battered GOP looks for way to rebuild” (News, Nov. 6):

Letters to the editor: President-elect Barack Obama Regarding “Change Has Come” (A1, Nov. 5):

Letters to the editor: Time for Americans to quit ranking patriotism If we learn nothing else from this election, please let us learn this: America's enthusiasm and involvement in the 2008 campaign process proves once and for all we are a nation of passionate America-lovers, not haters. It's time to stop ranking patriotism. Liberals, conservatives, Democrats, Republicans, etc.

Letters to the editor: Crunching numbers on Social Security Regarding “Begging for reform/ Darker times loom if Social Security isn't fixed” (Editorial, Nov. 1):

Letters to the editor: Seeking a solution to kayak congestion Regarding “It's Kayakers vs. Swimmers” (Our Region, Oct. 29):

Letters to the editor: Turned off by campaign costs Regarding “In long TV ad, Obama pushes change” (News, Oct. 30):

Letters to the editor: Debating the cause of mortgage meltdown Regarding “Look elsewhere/Deregulation did not cause financial crisis” (Editorial, Oct. 31):

Letters to the editor: Postal Service addresses issues Regarding “Voters say they didn't get election materials” (Our Region, Oct. 29):

Letters to the editor: Suggested source for a Big Three bailout Regarding “Bailout possible for ailing Big Three” (A1, Oct. 28):

Letters to the editor: A few returns on 'young ideas' Regarding “young ideas” (Dialog, Oct. 26):

Letters to the editor: Seeing gaps in $26 million footbridge Regarding “$26 million footbridge lauded” (Our Region, Oct. 24):

Letters to the editor: Tip of the hat to Steve Breen If a picture is worth a thousand words, Steve Breen's Oct. 21 editorial cartoon “White Lines” is worth five-thousand and deserves nomination for a Pulitzer Prize.
