SAN DIEGO – A 17-year-old boy stole a tow truck Wednesday morning, then lost control of the vehicle and rammed it into a Big Lots store in the Midway District, police said.

Police survey the damage after a teen allegedly drove a stolen tow truck into a Big Lots store.

The truck's owner left the vehicle running in front of his home and the boy got inside and drove off at around 2:15 a.m., according to the San Diego Police Department.

The truck owner saw the boy leave and got into another tow truck and chased the teen for about three minutes, police said.

The teen, who may have been drunk, lost control and rammed the truck into a front window at a Big Lots store at Kurtz and Rosecrans streets, police said.

No serious injuries were reported. The teen was arrested following the crash.
