COLLEGE AREA: San Diego State University has a new director of diversity. Aaron Bruce has been hired as an advocate for underrepresented minorities on campus.
He began his new job June 30 and will earn $94,992 annually.
Bruce has worked in management positions for companies in Latin America and Africa and has performed research on management strategies, public health and education in Cuba, Mexico and Kenya. Before arriving at SDSU, Bruce was the director of multicultural affairs at Rhode Island College, where he developed policies and programming to support ethic minorities, international students, women, disabled students, gay and lesbian students, and others.
SDSU recently was ranked No. 10 in the nation for awarding bachelor's degrees to ethic minorities by Diverse Issues in Higher Education, an industry education publication. –S.S.
