Getting your news into the newspaper
The San Diego Union-Tribune invites local organizations to submit information on their activities for possible news coverage. Following is a section-by-section look at specific areas where organizations can submit information to the newspaper for its consideration. Individuals are encouraged to review the sections of the paper to which they are submitting to become familiar with the type of information used for publication.
Please keep in mind that the paper's news staff makes all final decisions on coverage; submissions are not guaranteed to be covered or published in the paper.

Event Listings:
Typed information on book signings and readings should reach us at least two weeks before the event. Include author's name, title of book(s), date, time and location.

Typed description of a local leader for this feature can be submitted any time. Submission should include leader's key community accomplishments and favorite Web sites. Runs Mondays in "Personal Technology" section only.

Typed descriptions of industry awards, new facilities, strategic partnerships and other business-related milestones.

Five Questions:
Typed suggestions of a person for a possible future profile can be submitted any time. Person should have a unique involvement in the field of technology. Include a list of five interesting questions he/she could answer. Runs Mondays in "Personal Technology" section only.

Burl Stiff:
Invite Burl Stiff to attend your organization's next fundraiser. Send a letter at least a month before the event date with the basic background information: date, time and location of event, plus information on the host organization and how the funds will be used. Fax: (619) 260-5093.
Calendar (Currents Health):

This is the Union-Tribune's public events calendar that runs in the Our Region section. It lists free and low-cost lectures, workshops, group meetings, children's activities, and community events such as street festivals, rummage sales, pancake breakfasts and blood drives.
To be considered for publication, items should be submitted to FYI at least two weeks before the event and must include a brief description, time, date, cost and street address, as well as a phone number the public can call for more information.

The news department publishes information daily about San Diego County residents' deaths. Information for these free obituaries is accepted only from mortuaries and cremation services. Ideas for "by-lined" opinion pieces on an issue of interest to the greater San Diego community can be submitted for consideration.
